More about the practice and provider...

Hello and welcome, my name is Marissa Love, owner and provider for Magnolia Counseling, LLC. I am a licensed professional clinical counselor and have been in practice in New Mexico for over 13 years. I currently work with individuals struggling to form healthy relationships not only with others but with themselves. I am knowledgeable in various treatment modalities, and I strive to help clients learn how to validate themselves by seeing themselves through the lens of faith. I enjoy helping others increase in emotional intelligence while working on mental health issues, such as anxiety, depression, and trauma. I believe increasing emotional intelligence is key to not only improving mental health issues but to cultivate healthy relationships.

In 2019, I opened Magnolia Counseling and was afforded

the opportunity to work with a variety of clients. However, I recently decided to redirect my practice towards a more faith-based practice. I have found that encouraging clients to lean on their Christian faith while working on their mental health, clients are able to make strides they otherwise might not have been able to make. Having over 13 years of experience in mental health in various environments, has given me the foundation needed to best incorporate faith in a balanced and effective manner for the client’s overall mental health.

If you are struggling with your self-worth, having difficulties in relationships with others, if you are feeling lost and overwhelmed by anxiety, depression, stress, grief or trauma and can recognize the importance of faith on this journey to healing, then please reach out to schedule an initial appointment or a consultation. Faith truly can make all the difference when we are working on our mental health.

More about me...

I was born and raised in Silver City, Mexico, and graduated from Western New Mexico University with my bachelor's degree in psychology. I moved to Las Cruces and received my master’s degree in counseling and educational psychology from New Mexico State University. I initially began working with survivors of sexual assault and found great fulfillment in being able to walk alongside those who have endured and overcome trauma. Since then, I have worked with various populations requiring different levels of treatment. This has given me the opportunity to work with individuals in need of a higher level of care. Being able to work in different environments has provided me with diverse experiences and this has given me the opportunity to grow in my skills as a clinician and become well versed in mental health issues and treatment. As a result, this has provided me with the ability to recognize where my skills are most useful, such as, helping individuals learn how to form healthy relationships. This can start with a healthy self-concept, and this often begins with a strong relationship with Christ. I strive to help individuals learn their identity through the lens of faith and decrease the need for external validation while working on mental health issues.

In case of an emergency please go to your nearest emergency room immediately. If you are having a mental health crisis and/or are having thoughts of harming yourself or other, please call 988 or the New Mexico Crisis Hotline at 855-662-7474
